Performance
The new Kia Sportage features an eight-speed automatic transmission and the option for front-wheel or all-wheel drivetrains. It runs on a 2.5-liter inline-four engine with 187 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque. There's also the option for both hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains, too. According to EPA estimates, the front-wheel drive model has a combined fuel economy of 28 MPG, while the all-wheel drive model has a combined fuel economy of 25 MPG. When equipped with trailer brakes, the Sportage can tow up to 2,500 pounds around San Luis Obispo. Otherwise, with no package included, it can tow only 1,653 pounds.
Design
The outside of the Kia Sportage comes standard with privacy glass and a sound-absorbing windshield. You can enhance your visibility with LED projector headlights and taillights alongside LED daytime running lights. Stay ready for any SLO adventure with front and rear skid plates, 17-inch machined finish alloy wheels, a black front grille with silver trim accents, and the option for roof rails on certain trims. Available color schemes on the standard trim include Everlasting Silver, Ebony Black, Steel Gray, Snow White Pearl, and more. Additional options, such as Wolf Gray, Sapphire Blue, Dawning Red, Jungle Green, and various two-tone color schemes, are only available on more advanced trims.
The upscale Kia Sportage features regular interior lighting, a six-way manual driver's seat, and black woven cloth trim seating material. With its generous interior space, the Sportage has 41.3 inches of rear legroom and a maximum cargo capacity of between 39.6 cubic feet and 74.1 cubic feet, depending on the configuration of the rear seats.
Safety and Technology
The new Sportage comes standard with lane departure warning, lane keeping and following assist, driver attention warning, and forward collision avoidance assist. More advanced features, such as blind-spot collision avoidance, surround view monitor, highway driving assist, and smart cruise control with stop-and-go technology, are only available on more advanced trims.
An 8-inch touch-screen infotainment system and 12.2-inch instrument display are available. You can enjoy a six-speaker audio system, USB ports, Bluetooth connectivity, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration as you travel to Pismo Beach for a day of sunshine and relaxation.
Trim Levels
The LX trim comes with all the standard features, plus the option for heated side mirrors and heated front seats. The EX trim adds many useful premium features, including push-button start, dual-zone automatic climate control, a 10-way power driver's seat with power lumbar adjustment, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a wireless phone charger, and a larger 12.3-inch infotainment system with navigation. It also features standard heated mirrors with an LED turn signal. The comfortable perforated SynTex seating material comes with new color options, such as Saturn Black and Misty Gray.
The X-Line trim adds a unique X-Line seat trimming, special body styling, 19-inch alloy wheels, and the option for a panoramic sunroof and LED interior lighting. The SX trim adds a driver's seat memory system, a standard sunroof and LED interior lighting, a leather-wrapped shift knob, an eight-speaker Harman Kardon premium sound system, a smart power tailgate, satin chrome accent trim around the grille, a slightly larger 12.3-inch instrument display, and 18-inch alloy wheels with matte gray finish.
The SX Prestige trim adds ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, solar control glass, LED fog lights, larger 19-inch gloss black alloy wheels, and a few unique styling options. The Sportage X-Pro and X-Pro Prestige combine the X-Line body styling with stainless steel pedals, heated windshields, exclusive 17-inch matte black finish alloy wheels, and more.
